JENNIFER’S BODY

Not even Michael Bay can stop his ungrateful protégé’s meteoric rise.

If, like me, you saw SORORITY ROW and FINAL DESTINATION 4 then you would hail JENNIFER’S BODY as a worthy addition to the genre. It has Megan Fox while SORORITY ROW has sobbing Rumer Willis and FINAL DESTINATION 4 has Lori Milligan.

Based on the genre – JENNIFER’S BODY is a teen horror film and not an Academy Award contender – the much maligned Megan Fox delivers the sexy goods with a knowing wink.

Maybe not the acting goods, but exactly what the ticket buying public wants from her. (If they wanted acting, they should have hired Rumer Willis!)

Megan Fox incurred director Michael Bay’s wrath by telling Entertainment Weekly that her TRANSFORMERS 2 role consisted of two things: 1) running and 2) screaming. Fox also said her debut performance in TRANSFORMERS was “terrible.” Fox said that “Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen” wouldn’t be a great movie, but it’ll be a decent popcorn action film. “The humans are secondary to the robots because it’s a movie about robots… People are well aware that this is not a movie about acting. And once you realize that, it becomes almost fun because you can be in the moment and go, ‘All right, I know that when he calls Action! I’m either going to be running or screaming, or both.'”

Then she compared Bay to Hitler. When asked about working for Bay, Fox said: “God, I really wish I could go loose on this one. He’s like Napoleon and he wants to create this insane, infamous mad-man reputation. He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he’s a nightmare to work for…”.

Let’s hope Bay doesn’t have a Megan Fox sex tape.

Diablo Cody’s equally stunning meteoric rise is, of course, based on her charming, clever, and very witty, JUNO script. Cody would prefer to be in front of the camera instead of the unsexy role of screenwriter (and now, executive producer). I see a sitcom in her future. Cody is challenging Megan Fox by doing way too much publicity for her screenplay for JENNIFER’S BODY. Or, will we soon be seeing SAW VI’s screenwriters Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton all over red carpets?

Again, JENNIFER’S BODY is a teen horror film. Jennifer (Megan Fox) is the high school vixen with a devoted best friend from childhood, “Needy” (Amanda Seyfried). While “Needy” has a boyfriend, Chip (Johnny Simmons), she lusts after Jennifer. And everybody knows it’s a lesbian crush.

And how does sexpot Jennifer turn into a she-monster? She drags Needy to a bar where she takes an interest in the visiting band’s lead singer (Adam Brody). Going off with the band, the bar catches fire and the band decides Jennifer is the perfect “virgin” to sacrifice to Satan. The band knows this is the way Led Zepplin got famous. Jennifer is no virgin so when the sacrifice is over, she wakes up a boy-eating demon.

And the fun begins. Rather than seeing the girl-girl kiss as exploitative, it makes sense. She-demons have sexual appeal.

Fox is game and her screen chemistry with Seyfried works. I see Jennifer being resurrected.
