RAZOR BLADE SMILE

Rating: PASSABLE

Everyone told me I’d love this one. And I didn’t. But it’s an intense, pretentious effort, stylish beyond need, featuring the lead actress and possibly the crew that gave us those S&M intros to all the Redemption label releases. She’s not a good actress, so the Eisenstein poses fall flat, and the MTV speed with which the cuts fly by and the film/video stocks change is disconcerting, but it’s not a film one can just dismiss. It plays a little havoc with the vampire legend, casts compelling faces and forms our way, and creates an indelible mood.
